A flooring installation may look simple from the outside: move the furniture, install the flooring, put everything back. But anyone who has worked around active job sites knows that the work surrounding the installation can have a direct effect on how smoothly the project moves.

That is where StrongPoint Triple R Execution™ comes in.

Triple R stands for Risk Assessment, Removal, and Reset. It is a field-execution process designed to prepare the property before flooring installation, control the movement and staging of furnishings during the project, and return the property to an organized condition after the installation is complete.

The concept is straightforward: know what you’re dealing with before you move anything, move it with a plan, and put it back correctly.

Why Organization Matters

Construction and installation projects already operate under tight schedules and margins. Research has consistently shown that rework can create meaningful financial consequences. A major study using data from 359 construction projects found direct rework costs averaging about 5% of total construction costs.

More recent research published through the American Society of Civil Engineers found actual field rework averaged 0.38% of contract value before post-completion corrections, increasing to approximately 0.76% when those later corrections were included. The important point isn’t which percentage someone chooses to quote. The point is that avoidable work, corrections, and poor execution consume money that could otherwise remain in the project.

Risk Assessment Comes First

Before StrongPoint moves a piece of furniture, the Project Manager or Field Lead walks the property.

We look at walls, floors, trim, doors, door jambs, hallways, stairs, furniture, access points, tight turns, fragile items, and existing conditions. We photograph the property and furnishings when appropriate and document conditions before work begins.

Why?

Because you can’t properly protect something you haven’t taken the time to understand.

The assessment also establishes where furniture will be staged, what equipment will be required, what areas need protection, and what the crew needs to accomplish before the flooring specialists arrive.

Removal Is More Than Moving Furniture

StrongPoint doesn’t approach removal as, “Everybody grab something and start carrying.”

We establish a sequence.

Material is removed according to the project layout and staged with the next step in mind. Heavy pieces, fragile items, and awkward furnishings require different handling. Pathways are kept open. Doorways and vulnerable surfaces are protected. Items are positioned so the crew doesn’t have to continually move the same furniture around.

The objective is simple:

Move it with a purpose.

If an item can be moved once instead of three times, that’s less handling, less fatigue, less opportunity for damage, and less unnecessary labor.

Reset Is Part of the Job

StrongPoint doesn’t consider the job finished because the flooring has been installed.

The property still has to be put back together.

Furniture is returned to its appropriate location using the proper equipment and handling techniques. Before final closeout, the team checks the property and completes a final walkthrough.

That final step matters because the customer shouldn’t have to walk into a newly completed flooring project and then spend the rest of the afternoon figuring out what happened to their furniture.

Property Protection Is a Standard

As a United States Air Force veteran, I learned that speed without control isn’t efficiency.

It’s risk.

In 2024, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported 1,034 private-sector construction workplace deaths, with 389 involving falls, slips, and trips. The construction industry’s rate of nonfatal falls, slips, and trips involving at least one day away from work was 30.0 cases per 10,000 full-time workers—higher than the 22.6 rate across private industry overall.

Triple R isn’t a construction fall-prevention program, but the principle applies: the physical environment matters.

Clear pathways, organized staging, appropriate equipment, and controlled movement aren’t cosmetic details. They’re part of responsible field execution.

The Goal Is Productivity
